As Thanksgiving approaches, we are reminded of all the things we need to be thankful for in our lives- friends, family, pets, food, and all those things which make our lives worth celebrating this year.

Yet, sometimes we forget to be thankful for the little things, teeth being one of them.

During the holidays the teeth are put to the test. Between all of the food and sweets during this season, the teeth are frequently exposed to harmful elements. The least we can do for our teeth is make sure we take the measures needed to keep up good dental health during this time of year.

If you want to be thankful for your dazzling smile then follow these steps to keep them nice and healthy.

  1. Schedule a Dental Appointment A very important aspect of dental health is visiting the dentist office twice a year or as instructed by your dentist. Make sure you make it in to see your dentist as soon as possible for a cleaning and check-up. We miss seeing you when you skip appointments!
  2. Don’t Always Say “YES” To Sweets It can be tempting to say yes to a treat. It is okay sometimes to turn down sweets for the sake of healthy living. Remember a treat is only a treat when you have it on an occasion!
  3. Chew Sugar-Free Gum Regularly A great way to help maintain your dental health is to chew sugar-free gum. This will help to remove any food that is stuck between the teeth when you don’t have access to floss, toothbrush or rinse immediately.
  4. Drink Water Drinking water is another way to keep your smile healthy without traditional teeth brushing and floss. It helps to wash away germs and food.
  5. Establish a Dental Routine As your dentist will tell you over and over again, regular brushing, flossing and rinsing are imperative to dental health. Try to tend to your teeth at least twice a day to keep up good dental health.

Happy Thanksgiving from Hudec Dental!

We hope to see you soon to help keep your smile sparkling throughout the holidays. Just remember, even while you are having fun, take care of your teeth!
