As the coronavirus outbreak and social distancing restrictions continue to evolve Hudec Dental continues to stay abreast of the news, restrictions, and recommendations that are put into place. In an effort to keep all of our patients informed of how the restrictions affect our ability to serve our patients we have sent out multiple communications with updates to our policies. 5 Protocols for all Businesses:

As stated on Ohio’s Department of Health website below are their recommended protocols for all businesses. 

  1. In accordance with Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s newest legislation, masks are required in any indoor location that is not a residence. All patients and staff will have to wear a mask while in a Hudec Dental office.
  2. Conduct daily health assessments by employers and employees (self-evaluation) to determine if “fit for duty.”
  3. Maintain good hygiene at all times – hand washing, sanitizing and social distancing
  4. Clean and sanitize workplaces throughout the workday and at the close of business or between shifts
  5. Limit capacity to meet social distancing guidelines.

COVID-19 Guidelines

We understand that you are eager to get back to caring for your dental health and we would like to share what can you expect when you walk through the doors of our offices. We have worked very hard to follow all guidelines set out by the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Center for Disease Control and the Ohio Department of Health to ensure that we have taken the proper safety precautions for you and our team members. The new guidelines may catch you off guard when you walk through the front door of our office without knowing what to expect. We have listed below an overview of the resources that are available for you to review. 

  • Our Ask the Dentist teledentistry tool is fully operational and available for our patients to use. Describe your dental concern thoroughly and include a photo of the area of concern if necessary. One of our providers will view your submission and be in touch with you (via email) regarding your situation within 24 hours (excluding weekends). 
  • The Hudec Offices tab outlines all the changes you can expect to see when you walk in the front door of our offices. This includes information around our sneeze guards, the way our employees will be dressed with personal protection equipment, the new equipment and materials we have purchased, and additional cleaning methods.
  • The Patient Guidelines tab outlines all the changes you can expect when you walking the front door of our offices. This includes information around what we are asking of our patients before they come to our office and after they have arrived at our office.  
  • The Employee Guidelines tab outlines all the changes you can expect to see from our team while in our offices. This includes information around what we are asking of our employees before they come to work and after they have arrived at work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe for me to come to your office?

Hudec Dental is following the guidelines, mandates, and recommendations for the governing bodies of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), The American Dental Association (ADA), and the Ohio Dental Association (ODA). Currently, Hudec Dental is meeting and/or exceeding all governing bodies stipulations on cleanliness and sterilization. In addition, all team members and all patients are screened daily, complete with temperature checks to ensure that every individual entering the office does not exhibit any of the symptoms related to COVID-19.

Will my visit be any different than normal?

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Hudec Dental is taking extra steps to protect the health and well being of our patients and team members alike. All patients will be immediately asked to sanitize their hands upon entering the office. At check-in, each patient will be asked a series of screening questions while their temperature is taken with a touchless, forehead scanner thermometer. If any of the screening questions are not answered appropriately or if the patient exhibits a temperature, then the appointment will be rescheduled.

Will I need to wear a mask for my appointment or any special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?

What additional cleaning and/or sterilization methods is Hudec Dental adopting?

Hudec Dental has always prioritized the best sterilization and cleaning methods of our equipment, instruments, and materials. Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Hudec Dental was already meeting and exceeding all OHSHA, CDC, ADA, and ODA sterilization and cleaning requirements during this COVID-19 Pandemic. We are continuing our sterilization and cleaning processes with additional, non-required, intermittent sterilization of all surfaces, equipment, and materials.

Will there be an additional patient visit expenses during this period?

You may notice upon your visit to our office, that the Dentists, Hygienists, and Assistants will be more covered with masks, shields, and gowns more than in the past. The COVID-19 virus is transmitted primarily as an airborne virus. With the highspeed handpieces and ultrasonic scalers, the dental office is prone to aerosol spray. As it has been highlighted in news reports, there are significant challenges of acquiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for hospitals and first responders due to scarcity. As dentists return to work, the spotlight on PPE now turns to dental offices. Hudec Dental strongly supports the guidelines recommended by the CDC, the American Dental Association, and the Ohio Dental Association. The challenge of acquiring PPE to protect you and the staff of Hudec Dental is daunting and very costly. Surgical masks, shields, and PPE clothing are in scarce supply but are necessary to protect us all. By protecting the staff of Hudec Dental, we are also protecting our patients. As we navigate these challenging times, we have added the additional costs for such items. We have no idea how long this pandemic will last, but until its completion, our staff will continue to wear such PPE. There will be a $4 COVID Readiness Assessment for each visit to cover such costs. Unfortunately, the additional costs are not covered by 3rd party payors. We would expect that no one is happy about such a fee, but Hudec Dental, like every other medical/dental facility, has been left with few alternatives. Please be assured as soon as the costs are reduced due to increased supply, the $4 COVID Readiness Assessment will also be reduced. All we can ask is your understanding and patience as we move forward.
